Hela: Norse Goddess of Death

Who is the most powerful goddess in Norse mythology?

Half a very beautiful woman and half dead and decayed. Hela, daughter of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, the cold-hearted and cruel goddess. She was ruler of the cold world called Hel, where the souls of those who did not die heroically reside. She presides over death and has the power to decide who lives and who dies in the Norse world.

Her great hall was called Eljudnir and is considered the most powerful deity of all the deities of Jötunheim, that is, the world of the giants, or Jotuns, of Rock and Ice, separate from the deities of Asgard. She is sister of Jörmundgander (the serpent of Midgard) and Fenrir (a monstrous wolf) where they will have a fundamental role in the Ragnarök.
