Book Apocalypse
In the book of Revelation, the existence of the «Four Chained Angels on the Euphrates» is revealed, beings predestined to be unleashed at a critical moment with a chilling purpose: to annihilate a third of humanity. Revelation 9:14-15 reads:
Loose the four angels which are bound by the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for the hour, and the day, and the month, and the year, to slay the third part of mankind.
It is a passage loaded with symbolism. Some historians see this account as events symbolizing empires or mighty armies. On the other hand, the faith, especially the evangelists, see this passage as the end of time, real entities that will finish with all humanity.
